The first consultation lasts for 2 hours and involves a detailed look at both the presenting symptoms and all other symptoms that are present at the time. It will also look at the past medical history of the patient and any strong familial tendencies. The consultation may involve some in-depth questions as the homeopath attempts to find out how the individual reacts to stresses of all kinds. Follow-up consultations last between 30 and 60 minutes and cover reactions following the remedy and the emerging state of the body.

How long is a piece of string? The length of time depends on the individual, how long the symptoms have been present, the complexity of the case, and the number and strength of obstructions to cure such as lifestyle, pollution, diet and drugs.
